At Dry Creek Beekeeping, education is at the heart of everything we do. Sharing our love of bees—and helping others understand just how important and amazing they are—is what drives us.
But our passion for teaching? That goes back generations.
Meet B’Ann: Teacher, Budding Honey Connoisseur, and Businesswoman
B’Ann spent 17 years in banking before shifting gears to teach business and leadership at Clarke University, where she’s been for over a decade. She brings all that real-world experience into the classroom—and into the way we run Dry Creek Beekeeping.
Teaching runs deep in her family too. Her parents, uncles, and grandmother were all educators. So, when you visit us, you’re not just learning from someone who loves bees and honey—you’re learning from someone who was raised to love helping others learn.
Chase: Beekeeper, Educator, and Student
Chase is studying Biology, Environmental Studies, and Environmental Science in college, with plans to earn his PhD in Entomology (the study of insects). One day, he hopes to teach at the university level and continue diving deep into honeybee science.
In the meantime, he brings a fresh perspective and detailed knowledge to everything we do here—and he’s great at explaining it in a way everyone can understand. He teaches beekeeping bootcamps not only at Dry Creek Beekeeping, but also for Northeast Iowa Community College and Highland Community College. He is also a State of Illinois apiary inspector and helps beekeepers look for pests and diseases in their hives.
Why It Matters to Us
“There’s nothing better than watching someone light up when they learn something new.”
That’s our favorite part of this work—seeing curiosity bloom, hearing the “oh wow!” moments, and knowing we helped make it happen.
Whether you're a curious kid, a fascinated adult, or just here for the honey, we hope you walk away with a little more wonder than you came in with.
We’d Love to Teach You Too
Our tours are built for all ages and experience levels. You don’t need to be a scientist—we’re here to make beekeeping approachable, exciting, and fun.
We hope you’ll visit soon and see for yourself why we love doing what we do.
